The people closest to the work see it first

When I was managing properties I could see things coming. Small things that would cost us later if nobody moved.

I would raise them. Someone else would decide. By the time the decision came back, the problem had grown into something else.

It was not that leadership did not care. They were not close enough to the work to see what I was seeing.

That is how good people get wasted. They see everything first and can act on none of it.

Now I build teams the other way. Authority sits close to the work, inside a frame everyone understands. People who can act stop being a queue and start being multipliers.

First you listen. Then you give them the authority to act.
